# CrushPaper

> CrushPaper is a free sticky-note app for Mac (macOS 14 Sonoma or later). Notes float above all apps including fullscreen, can be pinned to a specific app, hidden from screen sharing, and crumpled into the Dock Trash when done. Uncrushed one-off notes turn to ash at midnight, so every day starts on a clean desk.

- Privacy: notes are stored only on the Mac. The app only fetches a small version file to check for updates (can be turned off).

- Install: download the DMG from https://crushpaper.pages.dev/download/CrushPaper.dmg or run `curl -fsSL https://crushpaper.pages.dev/install.sh | bash` in Terminal.
- Signing: not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID, so the DMG needs one "Open Anyway" in System Settings → Privacy & Security. The Terminal install avoids the prompt.

Features:
- Global hotkey ⌘⇧T opens the board from anywhere.
- Torn-off notes float above every app, including fullscreen apps and Spaces.
- App Notes: pin a note to one app (e.g. Chrome, Xcode, Figma); it appears only while that app is in front, docks to the app's window as a small tab, and opens on hover.
- Ghost mode: notes float see-through over everything, clicks pass through, and they are excluded from screenshots and screen shares. Hold ⌥ (Option) to grab a note.
- Private notes: lock a single note to hide it from screen sharing, screenshots and recordings; or hide all notes from the menu bar menu.
- Crush: completing a note crumples it into the Dock Trash with a paper sound. ⌘Z undoes.
- Daily Burn: at midnight, uncrushed notes without a date turn to ash; they can be revived from Ashes. Can be turned off.
- Morning plan nudge: once a day the board drops from the menu bar asking for today's three things; a countdown shows time until the midnight burn.
- Due dates, repeating notes, boards (Focus, Work, Personal, Ideas), paper textures and stamps, keyboard control.

Not included: iCloud sync, Markdown, images in notes, Windows or iPhone versions.

Responsible use: screen-share hiding is for keeping personal notes private on calls, not for hiding help during interviews or exams.
