Plan
Every morning the board drops out of your menu bar and asks one thing: what's today's plan? Stick the three that make today a win.
Free for Mac · macOS 14+
Stick it on your Mac. Crumple it into the Trash when it's done. Whatever's left burns at midnight.
Psst — click a note to crush it.
How it works
Every morning the board drops out of your menu bar and asks one thing: what's today's plan? Stick the three that make today a win.
Tear a note off the board. It floats above everything — fullscreen Safari, Figma, Xcode — until it's done. ⌘⇧T from anywhere.
Done? Crush it. The note crumples into a paper ball and lands in your Dock's actual Trash. Keyboard people: ⌘⌫.
Whatever's left turns to ash at midnight. No backlog, no guilt. Anything that still matters, revive it in the morning.
Pin a note to Chrome, Xcode or Figma. It shows up only in that app, docks to its window as a small tab, and opens when you hover.
How app notes work →Notes float see-through over everything, even fullscreen. Clicks pass through them. Hold ⌥ to grab one.
Notes over fullscreen apps →Lock a note, or hide them all from the menu bar. You still see them — Zoom, Meet, screenshots and recordings don't.
Hide notes from screen sharing →Recorded on macOS Tahoe, no edits. Liquid Glass board, a note stuck to the desktop in a few seconds.
CrushPaper isn't Apple-signed yet. That's a $99/year fee I'm crowdfunding below. Until then, pick the way you like.
No security prompts. Checksum-verified. Read the script first →

Or download the DMG:
Open the DMG and drag CrushPaper into Applications.
First launch is blocked. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, click Open Anyway.
So crushed notes can find your Dock's Trash. Nothing is read or sent anywhere.
Every dollar goes to Apple's $99 developer fee. At 100%, the “can't be opened” warning disappears for everyone.
Only one-off notes you didn't crush and didn't give a date. Repeating notes and dated notes are safe. Burned ones wait in Ashes until you sweep them, so you can revive anything that still matters. Or switch Daily Burn off in Settings.
Yes. Free download, no account, no trial. If it earns a spot on your desk, chip in toward getting it Apple-signed.
Because I haven't paid Apple's $99/year signing fee yet. The one-line install skips the warning; the DMG needs one click on Open Anyway. The fund above fixes it for everyone.
Yes. Turn on Hide Notes from Screen Sharing in the menu bar menu, lock individual notes as Private, or use Ghost mode. You still see the notes; screen shares, screenshots and recordings don't. It's made for keeping personal notes private on calls — not for hiding help during interviews, exams or anywhere you've agreed not to.
Only on your Mac — no account, no cloud, no tracking. The one thing CrushPaper fetches is a tiny version file from this site to tell you when an update is out, and you can switch that off in Settings.
To find exactly where your Dock's Trash is, so the paper ball lands inside it. It doesn't read your other apps' content.
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. On macOS 26 Tahoe you get the full Liquid Glass look; older versions get frosted glass.
Mac only for now.
