How to pin a sticky note to an app on Mac
Updated October 6, 2026 · by Shiva Chandra, maker of CrushPaper
In CrushPaper, write a note and click Pin to [app]. The note then appears only while that app is in front, docks to the app's window as a small tab, and opens when you hover over it. Switch apps or close the window and it disappears; come back and it's waiting.
Step by step
- Work in the app you want the note for — say, Chrome.
- Press ⌘⇧T and write the note.
- Click the Pin to Chrome chip (it shows the app's icon), then Stick.
- Click back into Chrome. The note docks to the window's top-right corner as a tab.
- Hover to open it. Drag it anywhere — CrushPaper remembers the spot relative to that window.
Good notes to pin
- Xcode / VS Code — the checklist before you open a pull request.
- Figma — brand colours and spacing you keep looking up.
- Mail — who you still owe a reply.
- Zoom / Meet — your talking points (lock it Private so nobody sees it on screen share).
Details
App notes work without extra permissions. If you allow Accessibility, the tab follows window moves instantly instead of a quarter-second later.
Prefer the full note always open? Turn off Settings → Notes → Tuck into a tab.
