About CrushPaper
Updated October 6, 2026 · by Shiva Chandra, maker of CrushPaper
CrushPaper is a free sticky-note app for Mac made by Shiva Chandra, an independent developer. It exists because sticky notes pile up: Apple's Stickies never clears itself, and to-do apps turn into guilt-filled backlogs. CrushPaper keeps notes short, visible and finishable — crush them when done, and whatever's left burns at midnight.
Why it works this way
- Visible beats organised. Notes float over your apps, even fullscreen, so today's work stays in front of you.
- Finishing should feel good. A done note crumples into the Dock Trash with a paper sound.
- No backlog. One-off notes you didn't finish turn to ash at midnight. Anything that still matters, revive it in the morning.
- Out of the way. Pin notes to one app, make them see-through with Ghost mode, or hide them from screen sharing.
What's live
Version 1.2 (October 6, 2026) for macOS 14 Sonoma and later. See the changelog for every release.
How it's funded
CrushPaper is free. Supporters can chip in toward Apple's $99/year Developer ID, which removes the "can't be opened" warning for everyone. Progress is shown on the home page.
Privacy
No account, no analytics, no cloud. Notes live in your Mac's Application Support folder. The only network request is a small version check against this site, which you can turn off.
